Hello readers! DCN here. And I have here the biggest update ever. For the nth time I had a wonderful day as a college student.
Yesterday, April 20, 2016, public speaking was held at Auditorium of
Asia Pacific College. Seriously speaking, at first, it was too boring; there
are too many dead airs, students are not yet fully awake, or maybe because
there are too much talk, you know, the opening ceremonies for formality.
After the opening ceremonies, contestants of the day were given some
instructions and asked to go to there designated rooms for elimination round.
Finally! The fun is up. The ERC minions (Speaks Org.) together with Ms. Nina De
Leon made some fun games; the first one is called Speaks’ Speeches, the rule
for this game is continue talking as per every minute the facilitators were
giving new topic every 30 seconds, easy as that. However, there must be a
smooth transition or else there’s a big chance that you will lose the game. And
by the way, the content of your speech can be nonsense, the crazy it is the
better, this time ERC will allow informality, kidding. So, the winner on that
game is Marlou Macalalad, which happen to be my block mate and friend. Second,
a debate, well it is too much fun, why? Just like what I said, ERC will allow
informality, rather “allowed.” There are 3 sets of debaters, however, I cannot
discuss about the first two sets since I don’t know them. As I was saying, the
3rd set wherein it is girls vs. boys, the girls are my block mates
and friends; G-Anne and Gem. Their topic is about “Which is better, heels or
sneakers?” Wait, the fun is not yet done because there is a twist, the girls
will defend the sneakers and the boys are on heels. And of course, girls won,
after all we-girls really don’t like heels and boys wouldn’t dare to wear
heels, that are so gay for them, I guess.
After the fun time, finally! The finalist were decided and
announced, luckily we had two block mates got in, Jod and Jeva. So as the
starter, Jeva stand on stage and face everyone with full of confidence; she
delivered her speech flawless or maybe it is not, if it is well congrats to
her, her flaw/s are not even noticed. And for Jod, he did a great job in any
aspect; his movements, his voice, and even his speech delivery are all great. No
doubt that the two of them made it to the final round. Ow, I am not saying that
those who didn’t made it are not good, it's just that there are things that are
not meant for us, better luck next time.
